On August 26, 2025, a room full of open minds came together for something powerful.

Yilabara proudly delivered a full-day, face-to-face Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training session to staff from St George Community Housing — skillfully facilitated by Jamie-Lee Lalic.

This experience brought together the depth of our three-part online webinar series into a single face-to-face day of learning, yarning, and reflection.

Throughout the session, participants were not only engaged — they were curious, respectful, and eager to deepen their understanding.

Together, we explored:
🔸 The rich histories and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
🔸 How past and present cultural patterns continue to shape contemporary life in Australia
🔸 The impact of personal values, beliefs, and biases
🔸 The complex nature of racism — from individual to institutional and cultural levels

Interactive resources, videos, and group exercises helped ground these important topics in real-life context, encouraging thoughtful dialogue and personal growth.

By the end of the day, participants were guided through accessing the LMS to complete a short assessment and survey —to take the final steps to earn their Digital Badge in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness.

These conversations matter. They’re not just about knowledge — they’re about building stronger, more inclusive communities.
